I first tasted kombucha when former Erie Times-News photographer Sarah Crosby made it and shared bottles in the newsroom refrigerator.
The taste is fizzy, tart, sweet, refreshing and funky. Some compare it to a fizzy apple cider vinegar. The alcohol percentage is the same or less than nonalcholic beer.
Crosby, who left the Erie Times-News earlier this year, started brewing in 2015 after a visit with her friend Jesse Horning in Rochester.
