In 2018, consumers will be looking for clean eating and fermented foods, according to 2,050 registered dietitian nutritionists surveyed by Today’s Dietitians and Pollock Communications for its “What’s Trending in Nutrition” survey. The dietitians were asked to share the nutrition trends they think consumers will be seeking this year.
The top diet trend in 2018 will be clean eating with simple ingredients, according to the survey. The types of super foods that consumers will be seeking in 2018 is led by fermented foods that will improve the health of their guts. Fermented foods include kefir, kimchi, kombucha, miso, sauerkraut, tempeh and yogurt. Last year, seeds ranked No. 1 on the list. Seeds fell to No. 3 on the 2018 list behind avocados at No. 2.
Today’s Dietitian isn’t the only brand that shared predictions on 2018 nutrition trends. Omega-9s will be a top nutrition trend this year, according to a Washington Post article.
